Here's what you should to know about, while on WaddenCC.com (I've tried as best as possible to stay away from "legal-speak") ...
This is one of the "biggies". When you use Google to search for "stuff", they use a bit of code (called a "Cookie") to help serve you with their adverts, either on their Search Engine Results Pages, or via websites who choose to display Google adverts. You can accept or decline cookies by modifying your web browser settings (just be aware that some websites, with interactive features, may not work properly, if the cookies are declined).
Some people object to this "targeting of ads". Personally, I don't see it as that big of a deal; in some ways it's actually helpful - if I'm looking for something via Google, I may come to a website that displays Google Ads. I know that the Cookies in my web browser will have "tracked" what I've been searching for, and will show me ads relevant to what I've been looking for. I either ignore the ads, or, if it's something related to what I've been looking for, I find it quite convenient to click through to see what that other website's got to offer, and if I find I need that "thing", I'm already there and can purchase it there and then, or bookmark the website to do more research on it, later. Regarding my website (WaddenCC.com), I'll be displaying Google Ads, as it help provide income to enable me to maintain this website and keep my content accessible without charge.
I may provide forms which require the input of your name and email address. With regards to the Contact Form, if you need to get in touch, you'll naturally need to submit your contact name (it doesn't have to be your "real" name; a nickname will do, just as long as you identify with it!) and a contact email address (so that I can reply, as swiftly as possible).
Then there's the Email Opt-in Forms ... I may have some additional content that I provide to email subscribers only. This content may also be accompanied by promotions, such as advertising. Alternatively, I may include links to third-party websites selling particular products or providing services that I use regularly, and also earn income by providing a link to their website. If you were to go through and purchase the product or buy their service, then I'd receive a commission that way. But, always remember that you're the one that's in control; you're in no way obliged to click the links or purchase the stuff. I'll also never recommend anything I've not tried and don't benefit from using myself.
To view this subscriber-only content will require "double confirmation" that you wish to subscribe to receive the information by email. Wherever I use them, the way that my Email Opt-in Forms works is, you'll enter your details (such as Name & Email Address); you submit your details via the form and that's the "first" confirmation step. You'll then receive an email that contains a link to click to confirm that you genuinely wish to receive information from me, by email (the second part of the confirmation process). If you decide not to "opt-in" to receive my information, at that point, just delete that email and you won't receive any further emails. If you choose to click the link, you're giving me permission to send the subscriber-only information to you by email. If you wish to stop receiving the emails, you'll find a link at the bottom of each email, which you can click to "Unsubscribe", and that will stop all future emails, as you'll have been automatically removed from the subscriber list.
Firstly, I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential (for instance, for Email Subscribers, I use a third-party service called AWeber; it's through their trusted service that I'm able to provide an automated service to subscribers, with my special content and information being automatically sent out on a given date, to their submitted email address, which will be listed on my AWeber account's database. And it's this list that determines which addresses to send emails to and which have unsubscribed and no longer wish to receive emails). I may also release your information when I believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses (this will be things like numbers of visitors to my website on a given month or annually, but it doesn't contain names or anything that would identify any specific visitor).
By "third party", I mean that I've not actually created the website, or product or service. Occasionally, at my discretion, I may include or offer third party products or services on my website. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. I therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, I seek to protect the integrity of my site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
Because I value your privacy I've taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. I therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.
